Larry Harris the sixth man of Golden State’s front office

Hard to remember, but in Joe Lacob’s early years as Warriors owner, the organization was sometimes criticized for having too many voices, too many guys who wanted in on the action — making calls and fielding calls and seeing what was out there.

Mind you, it was the same group — Lacob, Jerry West, Bob Myers, Travis Schlenk and Kirk Lacob — responsible for bringing the Warriors a championship in 2015, but back in 2010 and 2011 all those opinions and viewpoints were considered a weakness.

All five of those men deserve tremendous praise for bringing Golden State its first title in 40 years. What they’ve accomplished is historic sports-wise, a resume’ topper for a long, long time.

But if that’s your front office starting five, there’s an important sixth man here. And, OK, yes, kind of like Andre Iguodala was to the real starting five.

The Topic: What can Warriors do differently in Game 4 vs. Grizz?

Been talking tons of Warriors leading up to Game 4 tonight vs. the Grizzlies, and it often comes down to: What can the Warriors do differently to try to get out of this funk? We know a lot of what their issues are: Struggling from 3-point range; turning the ball over too much; getting worn out by Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol; and even free throw shooting.

But what can the Warriors do to change this series and the way it’s going? My NBA Show partner, John Dickinson, and I were talking about this a few minutes ago. Here’s what we think:

Dickinson: “I think the Warriors are prepared tonight to try to win ugly. Steve Kerr said they need to be better defensively. They may come out and make more shots and they may not. But I think they are going to sell out and try to hold Memphis to the high-80s or low-90s.”

Steinmetz: “But how are they going to do that? Memphis is still going to do what they do, pound it inside possession after possession. I can see some aggressive double-teaming down there, but how much more can you do against the Grizzlies … yeah, try to get them to take more outside shots. But the Grizzlies weren’t born yesterday, and they’ve got three very skilled decision-makers. Plus, two of them are their biggest players.”

With defining Game 4 approaching, Warriors face plenty of challenges

The Warriors of the NBA postseason haven’t resembled the Warriors of the regular season. They were OK against the Pelicans in Round 1, but their play has declined in Round 2 against the Grizzlies, who now hold a 2-1 edge in the best-of-seven heading into Monday’s game.

Earlier today on our NBA Show on 95.7-The Game, John Dickinson and I talked about the abundance of issues facing the Warriors right now as they get ready to play their most defining game of the season.

We also had terrific interviews with Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk, Yahoo! NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski and Jimmy Spencer of the Sporting News and Fox Sports.

Here are some of the issues facing the Golden State Warriors right now:
