Mychal Thompson: on the Warriors becoming the greatest team in NBA history, Klay’s demeanor and Draymond Green’s toughest matchups

We had a couple of terrific conversations on the “NBA This Week” show, welcoming in Mychal Thompson and Mike Wise. Thompson, of course, is a two-time NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, current radio analyst and dad to Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson. Wise was a long-time Knicks beat writer for the New York Times, worked as a columnist for the Washington Post and now works for the Theundefeated.com, which an ESPN venture.

Here are some talking points from Thompson’s interview:

–Whether the Warriors meant it or not, their convincing win over the Spurs on Monday was a “statement” game.

–Where does Klay Thompson get his laid-back demeanor and why does he “keep everything inside.” His dad knows the answer.

–He believes the Warriors have a chance to be the greatest team in NBA history. That’s right, NBA history. Thompson says the reasons the Warriors have a chance to be better than his “Showtime” Lakers  are how well-coached they are and the fact he believes they’re the greatest shooting team of all time.

–Who are the toughest matchups for Warriors power forward Draymond Green? Thompson gives his candidates. Thompson also believes there’s a team out there — and it’s not the Spurs — who can take the Warriors to “six or seven games.”

Here are some talking points from the Wise’s interview:

–Wise agrees with Thompson, saying if the Warriors can string some titles together, they’ll go down as the greatest team of all time — surpassing two of his favorites: the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and the 1985-86 Boston Celtics.

–He scoffs at the notion that LeBron James didn’t have anything to do with the firing of coach David Blatt, but makes it clear that’s unique in the NBA. Both Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson could be considered “coach killers,” according to Wise.

–He also goes out on a limb, predicting the Washington Wizards will beat the Warriors on Wednesday in D.C.
