Warriors are understandably bored; the hard-to-read bench; Steve Kerr a dynamic, positive face of a franchise

Had a great time talking sports — and getting into Warriors’ specifics — with Darryl “the Guru” Johnson on 95.7-FM The game on Friday. As it pertains to the Warriors, we hit on a lot of topics in the wake of the Warriors’ 103-90 victory over the Knicks at Oracle.

Here’s a link to to our show on 95.7-FM The Game.

Among the topics:

–Steinmetz thinks the Warriors are bored. After winning the NBA championship two years ago and getting to the Finals last year, they’re realizing there’s still a long way to go until the playoffs.

It’s only natural that the Warriors are having trouble staying in the present — the regular season — and not looking ahead to the postseason. They’re not getting a lot of competition these days, so it only makes sense that they start to push the envelope when it comes to getting a little casual.

Interview with Jim Barnett, Warriors’ television analyst

I had a great opportunity to talk to Jim Barnett, who knows more about the Warriors than just about anyone else around. We started the conversation talking about the special gem that is Steve Kerr, the coach of the Warriors. What a terrific representation of a franchise.

The guy is flat-out unreal.

We also talked plenty of Warriors, lots and lots of Warriors, who have a record of 23-4 after beating the New York Knicks.

On “Warriors WrapUp” on 95.7-FM The Game, the postgame show on the Golden State flagship, we talked about various aspects of the Warriors’ win.

Here’s a link to “Warriors WrapUp” from Golden State’s victory over New York.

–JaVale McGee got the start again in place of the injured Zaza Pachulia, and he came up with 17 points in 16 minutes — by far his best production as a Warrior. McGee has quickly become a fan favorite, and it looks like now he’s even got a fan in coach Steve Kerr.
