  1. William Castrop's avatar William Castrop says:

My mother was a steinmetz. She was from a small town in Missouri, Glasgow Mo. Her father was Samuel Steinmetz. His father was from a town in Germany which was Steinmetz Germany and came here to settle in the USA. He and a brother by the name of Aaron fought in the civil war.
They had a farm outside of Glasgow Missouri named Steinmetz and it was located in Howard county and was called Hazel Ridge. There has been unconfirmed claims that Charles Proteus Steinmetz, the electrical engineer and peer of Westinghouse, Edison and Nikola Tesla. He who was the genius behind the AC electric system -that is used today in microwave ovens and radar.
Tesla is the moniker used by Elon Musk for the electric car manufactured by him.
My reason for conveying this message to you is in my desire to see if there is a tie in our past history’s. At the young age of 72 I am just curious as my oldest son carries the appellation of Steinmetz as his middle name as I do. I take a certain amount of solace in delving into the history that came before me. If I shan’t hear from you prior to this Christmas I will not pursue. A sincere thanks for reading this far in my note.
